M&A Corporate Finance Consultant (MACFC21-1) – Magherafelt Office

ASM Chartered Accountants has an outstanding reputation for providing a range of corporate finance and consultancy services to public and private sector clients.

Over the last 10 years alone, ASM Magherafelt has acted as lead advisor on the sale and purchase of over 100 companies with Merger and Acquisition (“M&A”) transaction sizes ranging up to £300 million. Given ASM’s strong deal activity pipeline, the firm is now seeking to appoint a M&A Corporate Finance Consultant to join their Magherafelt based team.

M&A Corporate Finance Consultant – MACFC21-1

The Role:

This position is an excellent opportunity for career progression and development. The newly appointed consultant will work closely and directly with highly experienced and well regarded professionals in this field, as a key right hand support, delivering a wide range of M&A projects.

The M&A role will primarily involve the following day to day activities:

  • Assisting in the project management of transactions, with involvement from start to finish;
  • Preparing transaction documentation – business plans, information memorandum and financial forecasts;
  • Researching, approaching and liaising with potential buyers / sellers for clients;
  • Carrying out due diligence reviews and preparing draft reports;
  • Assisting with company valuations;
  • Financial modelling;
  • Liaising with clients and other professional advisors; and
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships.

The post also offers the chance to develop skills across a range of Corporate Finance activities, providing a real opportunity to progress and carve an influential role, at a key time in the firm’s corporate finance growth and development. Other general corporate finance activities may include:

  • Financial projections and business plans;
  • Funding proposal and securing debt/grant funding;
  • Business cases and economic appraisals to Green Book standards;
  • Feasibility studies for a range of commercial projects;
  • Design and development of financial models;
  • Corporate restructuring assignments; and
  • Share incentive plans.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Hons Degree (preferable 2.1 or above);
  • Corporate Finance experience;
  • High proficiency in MMS Office including Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a client quality focused environment;
  • Proficiency in report writing;
  • Strong organisational, planning and analytical skills; and
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

It is desirable, but not essential that candidates have a professional Accountancy qualification (ICAI or ACCA).

This is an excellent opportunity to obtain a wide range of experience that a medium sized firm can provide. The successful candidates should have or expect to obtain a relevant/non-relevant degree, or similar Accounting Technicians Qualification.

Job summary / responsibilities:

This position involves working as part of a team involved in the delivery of audit, accountancy and tax services to a diverse range of private sector clients. It is a 3 ½ year training contract whereby the successful applicant will be involved in the delivery of the following services over the period of their contract:

  • preparation of manual and computerised accounts;
  • preparation of client’s VAT returns and self-assessment tax returns;
  • completion of client’s company secretarial duties;
  • completion of audits of a wide range of clients;
  • completion of work on company’s and individual’s tax enquiries;
  • liaison with clients and other professional advisors;
  • developing and maintaining good working relationships with clients; and
  • any other duties requested by Management.

Essential requirements;

  • relevant/non relevant degree or similar accounting technician’s qualification.
  • strong numerate, written and communication skills;
  • high levels of commitment, enthusiasm and initiative;
  • strong organisational skills including the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
